Today is a mix of emotions. We are on a high after a week of painting in Ullapool for a great wee project with An Talla Solais. We were able to paint our largest piece to date, and despite the pain involved, we enjoyed it.
It is Friday, which is always a good feeling … but it is also my last day at DUFI, which puts a damper on it. After 14 years of collaboration, and ten years of running DUFI with Fin, my road is one that leads away from this studio. Don’t worry, we haven’t fallen out. I have been accepted as a student for ministry (yes you read that correctly), and I will be starting in September and working with Rosskeen Free Church for the next couple of years.
But, don’t worry, Fin is keeping the DUFI machine running and I am not hanging up my creative hat either – just moving desks. I am planning to continue working on some publishing projects and book cover design, while Fin will continue in a creative storm of public art, spray paint, photography and graphic design. And after 14 great years of brainstorming together, it is probably no real surprise that we have already been discussing future collaborations and creative projects.
So without further ado, let me say adieu – and please keep in touch. – Al
P.S. Fin, thanks for all the creative buzz. It has been great working with you.
