You got to roll with the punches and get to what’s real

This is the first entry I have done in the past six months and its been a momentous time really. In fact, this whole year has been a blur – a bit like poor Sonny I feel a little punch drunk!

Just a quick snapshot of what’s happened…

– Derby Public Art project was completed
– Banchory Public Art and Branding  project was completed
– I had brain surgery
– Al left to start a new career
– DUFI carries on regardless!

Now, obviously the last three events have had the greatest impact on where we are now.

I have recovered incredibly well over the five months since surgery and was told earlier this month after a further MRI scan that they think (99% sure!) that they managed to remove the whole Cavernoma. On top of that I also have been seizure free for over 7 months. The whole thing is hard to take in and all I can say is that it is nothing short of a miracle and I thank God for that.

Al leaving wasn’t a shock and we had been working towards that over the year. It has however, meant some changes to the way I would work. No longer do we have each other to bounce ideas around – although Al is more likely to now be a more helpful sounding board to me than I am to him, I don’t have much in the way of sermons to offer!

Having said that, things have been incredibly busy here and I am thankful for all the work. In the past few months since Al has left I have done three branding solutions (working on another two just now), stationery sets, wedding invites, a magazine, a couple of catalogues, a couple of photoshoots, an ongoing community arts project, another ongoing public art project, signage…and much more. I’ll eventually get round to posting about some of these things.

So, as you can see, moving on has been good. Its been tough but nothing without some pain is worth doing. – FIN
